The
C. P. ITALIA S. p. A. - a firm certified by
D. N. V. in keeping with the UNI EN ISO 9002 norm:
quality management of a production system - has
brought about a series of procedures ensuring
the "total quality" of its products
for a growing and increasingly demanding market. Here
is a short description of the enamel production
process:Firstly, we select the potential suppliers
of raw materials and packaging, who - before becoming
our official suppliers undergo a "test":
the Qualification Procedure.
We
control the ability of a firm to supply materials
correspondent to our Quality Standards.
The decision is taken not only on the basis of
the references given by the same supplier, but
also on an accurate analysis of the materials
supplied.Secondly, the Supplier obtains the approval
by our Quality Office and he becomes officially
a supplier of the C. P. ITALIA S. p. A..
When the supplied materials - raw material or
packaging as well - come to our plants, they undergo
two kinds of controls:
1. Administrative Control: our personnel
check the correspondence between what had been
ordered and what has been received in terms of
item number, package quantity and type.
2. Quality Control: we carry out the chemical
analysis of the raw materials to ascertain that
their chemical-physical parameters meet our quality
standards and the functional analysis of the packages
to verify their integrity and just for some package
lines to check the conformity with the ADR norms.
Once such controls have been successfully overcome,
the supplied materials - properly labelled - are
stored in specifically designed areas, to be later
run into the production cycle. Those firms, that
do not supply materials in keeping with our Quality
Standards, are just eliminated from our suppliers'
register.
The production of our paints is laid out on the
basis of a "Production Report", result
of a continual research activity by our Research
and Control Lab.
It points out the necessary components to make
the several paints, their working methods and
the right equipment to use. Our personnel carry
out the lot production faithfully applying what
is laid down in the Production Report.
During the production, according to the paints
that are being made, process controls are carried
out: dispersion state, grinding degree and temperature
are tested. In the end, before the items are packed,
a sample is taken from each lot to carry out all
the lab quality tests concerning the product:
viscosity, specific weight, covering degree, drying,
expansion, brushability, tinting, whiteness, gloss,
hardness, flexibility, clinging power.
All of these parameters have to be in keeping
with our Quality Standards.
Once overcome these strict controls, the product
can be packed. Each lot is identified in an univocal
way through a lot number, written in the Production
Report. Such a number is labelled on the containers
during the packing phase. From each production
lot is taken a sample, identified through a label
reporting the product name and the lot number.
The sample is preserved for three years in our
laboratory. In case our costumers communicate us
any product anomaly, we are able to trace back
- through the lot number - to its "production
story" and to the product itself on which
we verify the communication received.
